Authorship Criteria
International Journal of Tourism Business Research (INTOUR) recognizes as an author any individual who has made a substantial intellectual contribution to the research and the preparation of the manuscript. Authorship must reflect an individual’s actual contribution to the work and must not be based solely on position, seniority, institutional affiliation, or personal relationship with another author.
To qualify for authorship, each author must meet all of the following criteria:
- Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study; the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the development of the study’s conceptual framework.
- Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript submitted to and, if accepted, published by INTOUR.
- Accept responsibility for their contribution and agree to help address questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the article.
All authors must meet all four criteria. Contributions that are solely administrative or supportive such as providing funding, general supervision, translation or language editing, data collection without further intellectual involvement, or technical assistance do not by themselves qualify an individual for authorship. Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, with their permission.
Author Order and Responsibilities
The order of authors should reflect the relative contributions of each author to the research and manuscript and must be agreed upon by all authors. The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editors during submission, peer review, revision, and publication. The corresponding author must also confirm that all authors have approved the manuscript submission and the author order.
Each author is responsible for the accuracy of the contribution attributed to them. All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the article, including the originality of the work, the accuracy of the data and analysis, and the proper acknowledgment of sources.
Author Contribution Statement
Authors must provide an Author Contribution Statement in the manuscript describing each author’s actual contributions to the research and preparation of the article. Individuals who meet the authorship criteria must be listed as authors. Contributions from individuals who do not meet these criteria may be recognized in the Acknowledgements section, with the individuals’ permission.
Changes to Authorship
Any request to add or remove an author, or to change the order of authors after submission, must include a written explanation and the agreement of all authors, including any author being added or removed. Changes to authorship are subject to the editor’s approval. No individual may be listed as an author without their consent.
INTOUR may request clarification or evidence of contributions if questions arise regarding authorship. Allegations of inappropriate authorship will be handled in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.
